IS420UCSBH4A
Core Upgrades vs. IS420UCSCS2A (Revision A)
is the hardware revision B successor to IS420UCSCS2A, maintaining full form, fit, function (FFF) compatibility. The “B” suffix denotes critical manufacturing and component updates:
- Component Refresh: Updated CPU silicon, memory, and Ethernet controllers for longer lifecycle
- Reliability: Enhanced EMC/EMI filtering and thermal stability
- Firmware: Preloaded with latest ToolboxST safety firmware (V07.01+)
- Certification: Re-certified to latest SIL 3 standards (2022+)
- Compatibility: 1:1 replacement for CS2A; no program changes required
Typical Safety Applications
- Gas/Steam Turbine Emergency Shutdown (ESD)
- Burner Management Systems (BMS)
- Compressor/Pump Station Safety Interlocks
- Fire & Gas (F&G) System Logic Solvers
- Process Isolation & Emergency Depressurization
- SIL 3 Critical Process Loops

IS420UCSBH4A
Critical Field Service Pitfalls (Safety Rules)
1. Software Misuse (Fatal Error)
- Rule: Use ToolboxST (Safety) only. Never use ControlST.
- Consequence: Wrong software disables safety certification; unit fails SIL tests.
2. Network Isolation (Violates Safety)
- Rule: Isolate Safety IONet/UDH from non-safety control networks.
- Fix: Use separate physical switches; no cross-connection to UCSCH controllers.
3. Redundancy Configuration
- TMR requires 3 identical units: Must be same revision (CS2B).
- Rule: No mixing safety/non-safety controllers in a redundant group.
4. Hardware Tampering
- No jumpers/batteries: All safety config via ToolboxST.
- Rule: No hardware modifications; voids safety certification.
