Description
IC695PSA040 Product Overview
The IC695PSA040 is a 40 W auto-ranging power-supply module that snaps into any slot of an RX3i Universal Backplane. It converts a wide-range AC or DC source (85-264 VAC or 100-300 VDC) into three regulated outputs—+5.1 V, +3.3 V, and +24 V—needed by the CPU, analog, and digital I/O modules. A separate +24 V relay output terminal is provided to energize the coils of output-relay modules, eliminating the need for an external 24 V supply.

Within the automation architecture the supply sits at the “backplane power” layer: it delivers up to 30 W on the 5.1 V rail, 30 W on the 3.3 V rail, and 40 W on the 24 V rail, with electronic current limiting and auto-restart on overload. Front-panel LEDs indicate Power Good, P/S Fault, Over-Temperature, and Overload, while a 20 ms hold-up time bridges brief input interruptions—enough to keep the CPU alive during a one-cycle AC dip.
Because only one IC695PSA040 is permitted per Universal Backplane, the card is typically used in simplex configurations; if more capacity or redundancy is required, additional modules must be placed in expansion or remote backplanes.

Core Features & Customer Value
Auto-ranging input – Accepts 85-264 VAC or 100-300 VDC without jumpers, so the same part number works worldwide and rides through plant battery float-voltage swings without nuisance shutdowns.
Auto-ranging input – Accepts 85-264 VAC or 100-300 VDC without jumpers, so the same part number works worldwide and rides through plant battery float-voltage swings without nuisance shutdowns.
Multi-rail in one slot – Delivers logic (5.1 V & 3.3 V) and relay (24 V) power from a single module, eliminating separate 24 V supplies and their associated wiring, fusing, and heat.
Hot-swap capability – Module can be inserted or removed while the RX3i rack is powered, reducing downtime during supply replacement or capacity upgrades.
Front-panel diagnostics – Four LEDs give immediate indication of power-good, overload, over-temperature, or internal fault, allowing maintenance staff to identify a failing supply without a multimeter.
20 ms ride-through – Holds outputs valid for at least 20 ms at 120 VAC input, bridging one-cycle drops and keeping the CPU alive during upstream breaker transfers.
Typical Applications
In combined-cycle plants the IC695PSA040 is routinely installed in the left-most slot of the RX3i Universal Backplane that governs gas-turbine fuel valves, inlet-guide-vane actuators, and cooling-water pumps. The 24 V relay output feeds the coils of high-density output modules, while the 5.1 V rail powers the CPU and high-speed counter modules.

In pipeline compressor stations the same supply runs off 125 VDC battery, providing uninterrupted power to the anti-surge PLC and the 24 V solenoid valves even during AC outages.
Because the module is certified for Zone 2 and marine environments, it is also used on off-shore platforms for well-head control panels without needing additional isolation transformers.
