Description

IC694MDL754 Product Overview
The IC694MDL754 is a high-density, 32-point digital output module that installs in any I/O slot of an Emerson PACSystems RX3i rack. It converts 5 V logic commands from the CPU into 12/24 VDC sourcing outputs capable of driving solenoids, contactors, indicator lamps, and other medium-power field devices without external relays.
Within the control architecture the card sits at the “field-actuator” layer: each output can source up to 0.75 A at 24 VDC, is protected by Electronic Short-Circuit Protection (ESCP) that folds back current during a short, and automatically restores once the fault is removed. Differential group isolation (four groups of eight) prevents a short on one group from affecting the others, while the 2 ms ON/OFF response time keeps high-speed interlocks or pulse-width-modulated loads accurate.
Being an RX3i “Universal” module, it is hot-swappable, auto-configured by the CPU, and shares the same terminal-block style as other 32-point RX3i I/O, so plant stores can standardise on one cable and one spare.

Core Features & Customer Value
High-density 32-point card – Replaces four 8-point modules, freeing rack slots and reducing spare-parts inventory while keeping the same 0.75 A per-point capability.
Electronic Short-Circuit Protection (ESCP) – Each eight-point group folds back current during a short and automatically restores when the fault is cleared, eliminating fuse replacements and reducing mean-time-to-repair.
10.2 – 30 VDC range – Accepts 12 V, 24 V, or 28 V supplies without adjustment, so the same part number works for both 12 V pilot lights and 24 V contactor coils.
Group isolation – A short on one group of eight outputs does not affect the other three groups, keeping critical interlocks or alarm lamps alive during field faults.
Hot-swap & auto-configure – Module can be inserted or removed while the RX3i rack is powered, and the CPU automatically recognises range and fault status—no DIP switches to set.
Typical Applications
In combined-cycle power plants the IC694MDL754 is installed in the “discrete output” section of RX3i racks that govern gas-turbine fuel shut-off valves, cooling-fan contactors, and auxiliary lube-pump starters. The 0.75 A per-point capability drives 24 VDC contactor coils directly, while ESCP prevents a shorted coil from tripping the entire 24 V bus.
In pipeline compressor stations the same module energises 24 VDC solenoid valves for anti-surge control and indicator lamps for local status, using the high-density layout to minimise panel size.
Because the card is certified for Zone 2 and marine environments, it is also used on off-shore platforms for well-head valve control and fire-pump starter feedback without needing additional isolation relays.
