Description
DS3800XDIB1A1A: Product Overview
The DS3800XDIB1A1A is a daughterboard-grade digital input interface that plugs onto a motherboard carrier inside the Mark IV rack. It samples 24 V DC dry-contact signals from limit switches, push-buttons, relay contacts, and remote discrete inputs, conditions them (level-shift, filter, isolate), and streams digital status to the CPU over the VME back-plane. The card is hardware-configured (no firmware) and deterministic, making it suitable for safety-related discrete monitoring when triple-redundant .
Physical implementation includes opto-isolated inputs, TVS surge suppressors, pull-up/pull-down networks, and front-edge LEDs (green = input active, red = fault). 20-pin ribbon carries input status and power; keyed and gold-plated to prevent mis-insertion or fretting corrosion under decades of thermal cycling.
Environmental qualification meets –20 °C to +70 °C, IEEE 344 seismic, and CE / RoHS compliance, giving >25-year service life in baseload duty.

Core Features & Customer Value
24 V Dry-Contact Interface for Safety Systems
Opto-isolated inputs accept limit switches, push-buttons, and relay contacts without external interposing relays, reducing wiring complexity and cost by >30 %.

Hot-Swappable in TMR Strings
Redundant Mark IV allows online replacement of one input card; remaining two legs continue voting. MTTR is <5 min—no outage, no load shed, no restart required.

Field-Configurable Without Software
Jumper-selectable input count, pull-up/down, and filter corner allow technicians to match field devices using only a tweaker and the silk-screen legend, no laptop required.

Surge-Hardened for Turbine Deck
TVS diodes and opto-isolators clamp >500 V spikes from lightning, VFD switching, or exciter flash-over. 1500 V isolation prevents ground-fault propagation to CPU cards, reducing unplanned replacement by >60 % compared with non-isolated input cards.
