Description
DS3800HVDB1K1G: Product Overview
The DS3800HVDB1K1G is a daughterboard-grade video driver that occupies a 6BA06 slot in the GE Speedtronic Mark IV rack. It receives digital video data from the CPU over the VME back-plane, converts it to analog RGB or composite video, and drives local CRT or LCD monitors mounted on the turbine deck, control room, or remote pendant. The card is hardware-configured (no firmware) and deterministic, making it suitable for safety-related local display when triple-redundant.
Physical implementation includes video DACs, output amplifiers, 1500 V AC galvanic isolation, and TVS surge suppressors. A modular keyed connector on one edge and retention levers ensure blind-mate insertion in crowded card cages. Front-edge LEDs (green = sync active, red = loss of video) give real-time display health—no oscilloscope required during commissioning.
Environmental qualification meets –20 °C to +70 °C and IEEE 344 form-factor, permitting installation directly on the turbine deck with no extra HVAC. MTBF is >250 000 h at 55 °C, giving >20-year service life in baseload duty.
