Description
ABB IEPAS02 – Product Overview
The IEPAS02 is a dedicated power module for ABB’s Bailey INFI 90 and Net 90 distributed control systems. Within a DCS architecture it occupies the powerdistribution tier, delivering a clean 24 VDC rail to CPUs, I/O racks, communication cards, and safetyinstrumented subsystems. The module accepts a widerange AC input (115 VAC – 230 VAC, 47 – 63 Hz) and internally converts it to a lowripple DC output that meets the stringent stability requirements of processcontrol loops.
Its design follows the modular philosophy of the INFI 90 family: the unit mounts on a standard DIN rail or directly on the control cabinet backplane, and it can be hotswapped in a properly configured system, minimizing plant downtime during maintenance. The IEPAS02 also integrates two Ethernet ports with builtin switching, allowing it to serve as a local datahighway node while maintaining power continuity.

Core Features & Customer Value
Wide Input Voltage Range – Accepting both 115 VAC and 230 VAC allows the same module to be used on plants with differing utility standards, reducing inventory complexity and simplifying field spares management.
Regulated 24 VDC Output with Low Ripple – The DC rail meets the tight tolerance (± 0.5 %) required by DCS processors and safetyinstrumented subsystems, helping to maintain signal integrity and avoid spurious trips in safety logic.
BuiltIn Protection – Overcurrent, overvoltage, and shortcircuit detection shut the module down before damage can propagate, protecting downstream equipment and decreasing the likelihood of costly field repairs.
Integrated Ethernet Switching – Two Ethernet ports provide local network redundancy without additional hardware, enabling seamless integration into the DCS data highway and supporting hotswap operations that keep the control system online during powermodule replacement.
Modular, HotSwappable Design – The DINrail form factor and hotswap capability allow maintenance personnel to replace a failed power module without shutting down the entire control system, thereby improving plant availability and reducing meantimetorepair (MTTR).
Compact Footprint and Light Weight – At 140 × 60 × 30 mm and 0.5 kg, the IEPAS02 fits easily into existing cabinet layouts, freeing space for additional I/O or communication cards and minimizing mechanical load on mounting structures.

Typical Applications
ProcessControl Power Distribution – In a pulpandpaper mill, the IEPAS02 supplies the main DCS CPU and distributed I/O racks, ensuring stable operation of temperature, pressure, and flow control loops that run continuously 24/7.
SafetyInstrumented System (SIS) Power Feed – For a petrochemical plant’s emergency shutdown system, the module provides a reliable 24 VDC source to safety PLCs and valve actuators, meeting IEC 61511 powerquality requirements.
Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) Power – In a watertreatment facility, the IEPAS02 powers remote RTUs located in harsh outdoor cabinets; its wide temperature range and IP20 rating allow it to operate reliably despite temperature swings and dust exposure.
Redundant Ethernet Node – In a combinedcycle power plant, the dual Ethernet ports are used to create a ring topology for the DCS data highway, providing path redundancy without additional switches.
